iPhone 14 Plus sales (tested by Macitynet here) continue to decline, despite total shipments outstripping last year’s iPhone 13 lineup. New data shared by trusted Apple analyst Ross Young indicates that panel shipments for the iPhone 14 Plus are expected to be “near zero in December.”
According to Young, Purchases of Apple displays in the iPhone 14 supply chain in 2022 are on track to increase 10% over the iPhone 13 lineup in 2021.
As previous data has shown, the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max continue to outpace their immediate predecessors. This also increases the average selling price of the iPhone 14 line, which is a metric Apple relies heavily on when reporting earnings to investors.
Note that Additional panel shipments are expected to be close to zero Next December is where demand largely stalls for that particular model.
It appears that 2022 iPhone 14-series panel purchases are now up 10% over 2021 iPhone 13-series purchases, despite the fact that the smartphone market is down 9%. The ASP of these devices also increased by 10% with the 14 Pro / Pro Max accounting for 64% share against 51% for the 13 Pro / Max
Either way, iPhone 14 Plus panel shipments are “near zero” for December is no surprise. An earlier report said that Apple had virtually halted production of the device to better match production with demand. Despite the lower-than-expected demand, Apple is still believed to be planning an iPhone 15 Plus for next year. After all, it was two years before the mini model was canceled due to low sales.
However, Apple recently issued a rare update to investors and consumers, warning that ongoing COVID-19 restrictions in China will have a significant impact on the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.
